For as long as I can remember, this was my mothers favourite word. She would say many others as well, but it was this one in particular. As a child, the thing that would confuse me and make me ‘so’ angry, was her saying the words to ‘herself’! The swearing wasn’t in context to her being angry, or even describing something to somebody; she would just swear – all the time. I hated her so much for doing it. I knew that, because of my step-father, my home wasn’t a safe enough environment to invite friends over to, but I felt she also contributed to the problem because of her behaviour as well. She was an embarrassment to me and she didn’t seem to care.
I hadn’t heard of the term ‘Tourette Syndrome’ and, I’m guessing, neither had anybody else.
